PLM Interest Group

Inaugural Meeting

September 2003


Objective
The Objective of the Meeting is to enable people from :
  • manufacturing industry
  • PLM technology developers
  • resellers and distributors
  • consultancies
  • sytem integrators
  • academia
to discuss and define the name, objectives, structure, work methods, activities and membership of a "PLM Interest Group" (PLMIG).

After this Meeting it should be possible to create the PLM Interest Group.

The need for the PLMIG
It is generally agreed that Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) will become one of the most important business activities for manufacturing companies in coming years. Currently though, there is much confusion about PLM. As a result, PLM development, implementation and use are not as effective as possible.

The mission of the PLM Interest Group would be to help overcome these and similar problems.

  • Provide input about the way PLM should develop
  • Learn about different industry directions and views
  • Meet and share experience with users and managers from other organizations

Meeting Location
The Meeting will be held in Oxford, England which : Meeting Language
The Meeting language will be English. However it is recognized that PLM is a subject of global interest and that people from many countries will attend. The Meeting will address the way in which the Interest Group will work on different continents and in different languages.

Date
The Meeting will be held in Oxford, England on September 23, 2003. It will be repeated on September 30, 2003. The agenda will be the same on both days, so participants can attend on either day.

(Please let us know if you would like to attend but can't make these dates. We may run a third session on another date.)

Meeting Format
The meeting will have an interactive and informal format, mixing high-quality presentations, hard-working break-out sessions, and group discussions. After a series of short presentations setting the scene there will be proposals for the PLMIG Charter and implementation plan, followed by an open forum debate. At the end of the day participants will receive a structured feedback pack which will be used to co-ordinate planning for the next stage. Time-keeping will be strict, as the time available is relatively short for the scope of the Meeting.

Registration Fee
  • The registration fee for the meeting is 295 Euro (plus VAT as applicable).
  • The registration fee does not include accommodation.

The Meeting is open to anyone, from any country, who is interested in PLM. Registration prior to the Meeting is necessary.
