Stage 3 - Adapting
Companies at this stage have characteristics such as:- often (i.e. 40-75% of exchanges) exchange data electronically with customers and supply chain partners
- have a cross-functional electronic vault
- understand that product definition information is valuable
- have listed the major documents, data and other information needed for product development
- have a common and well-defined company-wide PDM approach
- have defined parts of the product development process
- have automated workflow for activities such as release control and change management
- have several PDM applications in use - some of which are integrated
- have many PDM users in Engineering / R&D / product development
- communicate engineering data electronically between several departments
- have basic integration between PDM and several associated systems such as CAD and MRP/ERP, but some manual intervention is required
