Stage 2 - Awakening
Companies at this stage have characteristics such as:- sometimes (i.e. 15-40% of exchanges) exchange data electronically with customers and supply chain partners
- manually manage most engineering drawings on traditional media
- haven't defined the product development process
- have mainly manual release and change management
- have many departmental stand-alone vaults and databases
- have introduced some local PDM applications for specific activities
- use basic PDM functionality such as vaulting
- have limited electronic transfer of data between a few departments
- have few users of PDM
- have an ineffective configuration management system
- have basic integration between PDM and CAD, but some manual intervention is required
