Data transmission and reception procedure Scope The scope of this procedure is the transfer of all data from or to the CAD/CAM/CAE system. Content This procedure should cover the steps necessary to define and prove a transfer route between CAD/CAM/CAE and another system. The aim of the transfer could be to perform analysis, to update an external database, to make use of third party data, or to provide data for NC preparation. Checklist Define purpose of transfer and the required response time. Establish scope of data. Establish the most effective route, e.g., paper, tape, disk, modem, LAN, WAN or Web. Specify hardware and software. Install link. Perform checks with real data. Prepare any procedures, including the specification of data naming, formatting, and checking.
