Data creation, update, and development procedure
Scope The scope of this procedure includes all stages in the preparation of data from whatever source, with particular reference to the key stages of its development.
Content This procedure will define how the system shall be used and controlled by the engineering design facility to prepare and develop the data. It should start from the initial concept and continue through to the finished detail design transmitted to manufacturing.
Modeling checklist- Prepare model in block form to prove the concept.
- Interface with analysis programs as appropriate, transferring data automatically whenever possible to speed up response times and reduce transcription errors.
- Prove the model, possibly breaking it down into lower-level models to develop the design in greater detail.
- Check the design model, including the CAD/CAM/CAE aspects.
- Review the design model and return it for rework or further definition as necessary.
- Once the design is complete, checked, approved, and released, then drawings, parts lists, and NC tapes can be produced from the model.
Drawing checklist- Select frame size and drafting standards.
- If presenting model information, prepare views at correct scales.
- Develop the drawing, annotate, and add dimensions.
- Check the drawing and parts list, including the CAD/CAM/CAE aspects.
