Alan Griffiths is a Principal of IIC Consulting, a company focused on the application of emerging technologies such as Engineering Data/Document Management (EDM), Product Data Management (PDM), Imaging and Workflow to the needs of engineering and manufacturing companies. He provides independent advice on how to best utilise emerging technology to support key business aims. This ranges from analysing needs to advising on strategy, product selection, cost/benefit analysis and integration.

Alan has in-depth knowledge of the products, technologies and issues relating to EDM, PDM, Imaging, Document Management and associated technologies such as CAD/CAM/CAE and MRP/ERP. This is combined with many years of practical experience in scoping, sizing and introducing new information systems and processes.

Alan has carried out projects at all the various stages of strategic direction, evaluation, selection and implementation, for end-users and vendors. Major clients include Automotive Products, BNFL, European Space Agency, IBM, Knorr-Bremse (Allied Signal), Perkins Engines, Rolls-Royce Aircraft Engines, T and N, Wicks and Wilson and Xerox Engineering Systems.

Alan is involved in several engineering information Forums such as The PDM Solutions Roadshow, PDM 97, ICAT, CIM97 and Document 97, and carries out technology and product research in this area for the 'Engineering Document Management Systems and Product Data Management Guide and Directory' and other publications.
