* Welcome * Welcome to this issue of 2PLM, an e-zine distributed every two weeks on a free subscription basis. * Overcoming the PLM Dilemma : Making Progress in 2005 * Last month we launched the "Overcoming the PLM Dilemma" Manual. Initial feedback has been very useful and led to an expansion and upgrading of Chapters 2 and 3. The driving force for producing the Manual was to support the many companies that are currently in the early stages of PLM. This stage can be described as the "there is no formally agreed strategy, plan or budget for PLM, but there are components of PLM in place, and there is a recognition by mid-level managers of the need to get organized for PLM and seize the opportunities that PLM offers". The objective of the Manual is to help medium-level managers develop a PowerPoint presentation for a high-level business executive with the objective of getting agreement to move forward and, for example, develop a PLM Strategy or launch a PLM Initiative.
Initial feedback from early readers was very useful and has led to an expansion and upgrading of Chapters 2 and 3. Initially, Chapter 2 had 25 sections about different PLM topics. This has now been expanded to 50 sections, and is available separately as 50 PLM Questions & Answers. Similarly, Chapter 3 has been expanded and is now also available separately as A Vision of PLM in a Manufacturing Company in 2010. |
