CEOs want to implement PLM and get the benefits (increased revenues, lower costs) before their competitors. They are already telling friends, stakeholders, business analysts and bankers about their PLM Initiatives, PLM Strategies and PLM Projects. But PLM is still at an early stage. Many potential users are still asking basic questions such as 'What is PLM?' and 'How do we implement PLM?'. That's normal for a new business approach. ERP, SCM and CRM all went through that phase. PLM is at a stage in which users and vendors need a lot of help. Some of them have asked us to help set up some kind of a neutral, non-profit PLM Interest Group in which all members of the PLM community can work together to support the development and use of PLM. We're starting by organizing a one-day Inaugural Meeting in September in Oxford, England to define what this organization should look like, what it can do, how it should be structured, etc. If you would like to attend, read details about the Inaugural Meeting. If you would like to find out more, mail Roger Tempest. The request for some type of PLM Interest Group is coming from all parts of the PLM community. PLM users tell us they need to:
Academics want to identify and carry out research that goes beyond state-of-the-art and will provide benefits to PLM users and vendors world-wide. The request for some type of PLM Interest Group is coming from all parts of the PLM community. Maybe you also support it? Should you join this new organization? If you would like more information, read about the proposed PLM Interest Group. If you would like to join, or to find out more, mail John Stark. |
