![]() Auspex Systems, Inc. announced a major restructuring program. The restructuring includes a worldwide workforce reduction of 30% and consolidation of operations that will result in lower overall operating expense levels. Autodesk, Inc. announced plans to spin off a business-to-business, e-commerce company targeting the manufacturing industry called RedSpark, Inc. Dominic Gallello, an eight-year veteran of Autodesk and former executive vice president, is the CEO of the new company. RedSpark is set to deliver online manufacturing supply chain solutions for collaboration and commerce worldwide. Centric Software, Inc. announced it has strengthened its global distribution base by forming a new subsidiary in Japan. PTC announced the creation of three business units that will have overall responsibility for the company's major product line initiatives. James P. Baum, PTC's executive vice president responsible for engineering, research and development, will become general manager for the Windchill and Web-based Collaboration Solutions business unit. Jon R. Stevenson, senior vice president of MCAD products, will become general manager of the MCAD products and Flexible Engineering Solutions BU. This business is responsible for Pro/ENGINEER as well as other applications within the PTC i-Series of flexible engineering solutions. James E. Heppelmann and Stacey Lawson will head up the Netmarkets unit - a new initiative that will enable PTC to address opportunities in the business-to-business (B2B) exchange marketplace which specifically leverage the company's expertise in CPC solutions involving highly engineered products. Research Engineers, Inc. announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Allegria Software, Inc. netGuru will acquire all outstanding shares of Allegria Software for the purchase price of approximately $1.9 million payable in cash of $1.5 million and shares of netGuru's common stock. The technology acquired from Allegria will be implemented in e-NGINEER.com. SDRC announced its new corporate strategy for providing business-to-business, Internet-based solutions to global manufacturers. SDRC has aligned its solutions offerings in three areas: Product Knowledge Management, Collaborative Product Commerce, and e-Design Automation. Metaphase, along with the company's SLATE product represent SDRC's product offerings in PKM. Accelis is SDRC's CPC product brand. SDRC's current e-design automation offerings include I-DEAS, Imageware, and FEMAP. * Financial results * Baan Company N.V. announced results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2000. Total revenues for the first quarter were $106 million, as compared to $176 million for the first quarter 1999. Cadence Design Systems, Inc. announced first quarter revenues of $257 million. Engineering Animation, Inc. announced that for the year ended December 31, 1999, revenues from continuing operations were $70,736,000. FileNET Corporation reported financial results for its first quarter ended March 31, 2000. The Company reported record revenue of $92.8 million for the quarter, a 14 percent increase from the $81.4 million reported in the same quarter of 1999. PTC reported revenue totaling $227.1 million for the second quarter ended April 1, 2000, compared to $263.2 million for the same period last year. Total Windchill revenue was $39.4 million. Total Windchill revenue over the past four quarters exceeded $140 million. SAP AG announced its results for the quarter ended March 31, 2000. In the first quarter of 2000, total revenue rose 10% over the first quarter of 1999 to EUR 1.18 billion. SDRC announced its results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2000. Revenues totaled $108.2 million, about even with last year's $108.1 million. SGI announced results for its third quarter. Revenue for the third quarter was $564 million, a 9% decrease from the previous year. Sun Microsystems, Inc. announced revenues for the third quarter were $4.005 billion, up 35 percent compared with the third quarter of fiscal 1999. * People * Centric Software, Inc. announced the appointment of Gareth Watts as European General Manager and the opening of two United Kingdom offices in Manchester and Swindon. Digital Paper announced the appointment of Anthony P. Cook as Vice President of Marketing. Green Pasture Software announced it has chosen Charles K. Wittenberg as president. SDRC announced that Maurice F. Holmes has joined the Board of Directors of SDRC. Informative Graphics Corporation announced Minolta Information Systems, Inc. has chosen its MYRIAD view and markup solution for its CAD file viewing efforts. PTC announced it received a $3.5 million order for PTC i-Series software and services from Izumi Products Company, Nagano, Japan. ![]() PTC announced it has received an order for more than $1 million for software and service from Lamborghini, located in Bologna, Italy. PTC announced it received multiple orders for Pro/ENGINEER software and services from the U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for more than $1.6 million. PTC announced it has received a $3.4 million order for PTC's Windchill software and services from SKF Group, headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden. PTC announced it received a $1.4 million order for its Windchill software and services from TATUNG CO., a leader in Taiwan computer and communication, consumer, and industrial product markets. PTC announced it has received a $1.4 million Pro/ENGINEER order from YASDA for software and services. SAP AG announced that Visteon Automotive Systems has selected SAP Product Lifecycle Management, an integrated business application within mySAP.com, for managing the complete product life cycle of the extended supply chain from design and production through sales and maintenance. SolidWorks Corporation announced that Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will install more than 600 seats of SolidWorks software for use during academic year 2000-2001. SolidWorks Corporation announced that Alamo Group, Inc. has selected SolidWorks as the standard solid modeling solution for three of the company's subsidiaries including Bomford Turner in Worcestershire, England; McConnel in Ludlow, England; and SMA in Orleans, France. Tecnomatix Technologies Ltd. announced that its eM-TolMate software is now fully implemented at Lockheed Martin. Tecnomatix Technologies Ltd. announced that it has received a $1.75 million follow-on order for software and services from one of the world's largest electronics manufacturing services companies. The customer is to expand its use of Tecnomatix eMPower solutions, by utilizing the eMPower Assembly engineering tools to provide a global approach to management of production and test data. Unigraphics Solutions Inc. announced that AM General Corporation has signed a software and services contract in excess of $850,000. The contract includes several licenses of iMAN, Unigraphics and Product Vision. In addition, UGS will provide training and implementation services. Unigraphics Solutions Inc. announced that C. F. Taylor, a B/E Aerospace, Inc. company headquartered in the U.K., has awarded UGS a $1 million software and services contract. The contract calls for UGS to implement its Unigraphics CAD/CAM/CAE application. C.F. Taylor is a developer of aircraft interiors. Verity, Inc. announced that Chapters Online Inc. has selected Verity's K2 Toolkit to provide high performance knowledge retrieval solutions to its customers. * Developments * Agile Software Corporation announced the release of EMSdirect, a new, free service hosted by Agile at its MyAgile.com manufacturing commerce hub. EMSdirect enables OEMs to proactively package together and transmit all relevant product information via MyAgile.com directly into the Agile Anywhere e-Hub of their Electronic Manufacturing Services provider. Autodesk, Inc. announced Autodesk Product Extensions, a suite of tools that deliver enhanced Internet collaboration and communication capabilities to users of AutoCAD 2000 and AutoCAD 2000-based products. Autodesk, Inc. introduced Autodesk Point A, the company's new portal serving designers and engineers. Located at http://pointA.autodesk.com, the site provides a centralized online community and resources for a broad range of designers, engineers and architects. Baan Company N.V. announced that BaanProject - a component of its flagship BaanERP software - has been fully integrated with Microsoft Corp.'s Microsoft Project 2000. Centric Software, Inc. announced several new additions to its PIVOTAL CVPD software suite. These additions include PIVOTAL Web Viewer, PIVOTAL 2D, additional Connectors as well as other performance enhancements to PIVOTAL Studio. CIMSOFTEK and Compunix, leading providers of CAD translators, have announced CADCAM-E.COM a business-to-business (B2B) engineering data sharing web site. CoCreate Software Inc. announced the release of WorkManager 6.0, its collaborative product-development-management solution. WorkManager now provides out-of-box product solutions that give customers a pre-configured application. CyLex announced its new i-DOX family of service offerings. Built on Documentum's 4i content management engine, the i-DOX family provides imaging and content management capabilities. Engineering Animation, Inc. announced VisFactory 6.2. The enhanced solution leverages EAI's core visualization technology by providing powerful tools for factory modeling. Engineering Animation, Inc. announced the availability of VisPublish3D, a 3D digital publishing solution that enables all users within a manufacturing enterprise to collect, author, distribute and visualize the most current product and process data in a controlled, multi-media environment. ![]() Engineering Animation, Inc. announced the availability of VisVSA, a versatile, graphically rich, dimensional analysis tool that extends the powerful digital prototyping and visualization capabilities of VisMockUp. IDEAL Scanners & Systems, Inc. announced OfficeStation Plus, a scanning and indexing solution for both large and small documents with one interface. Informative Graphics Corp. announced Brava! 2.2 - the latest enhancement to its 100 percent Java-based drawing and document product line designed for Web delivered viewing and collaborative commerce. Informative Graphics Corp. announced it has innovated a new Web based solution for locating and viewing files from multiple network file servers, all from inside a browser served application. Brava! Explorer is a Java servlet that extends an HTTP server to deliver directory tree navigation of configured network file servers. A selected file can be viewed, printed, or redlined. Information Exchange, a division of Inso Corporation, announced the availability of Quick View Plus and Outside In for the Windows-powered Pocket PC platform. Mentor Graphics Corp. announced a series of innovations in its line of Calibre sub-wavelength physical verification and manufacturability solutions. The improvements include phase-aware optical & process correction, multithreading capabilities, 64-bit capacity and process-model enhancements. Spatial Inc. announced Bits2Parts.com (www.bits2parts.com), a Web-based service focused on streamlining the quotation, communication and data flow between manufacturers and rapid prototyping service providers. Spicer Corporation announced ViewCafé 1.1, a Java-powered Web-centric view and markup solution. ViewCafé customers require no installation, and function across hardware platforms and operating systems. Spicer Corporation announced that the new release of Spicer Imagenation 6.1 for Windows supports interactive 3D VRML viewing, adds easy-to-use cross-sectioning, and accepts markup information from Spicer's new Java view and markup tool, ViewCafé. * Relationships * Aspect Development, Inc. and BuildPoint Corp. announced an agreement to provide the industry's largest online catalog. CoCreate Software Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Company announced an initiative to offer secure collaboration solutions across global design chains. HP's Technical Computing sales force will directly sell CoCreate's OneSpace software as a turnkey collaboration solution. CoCreate Software Inc. announced an initiative to interface its OneSpace engineering collaboration solution with SAP Product Lifecycle Management. Documentum announced ASPire, a new program created to assist application service providers, systems integrators, and consultants in offering subscription-based applications that leverage Documentum's 4i eBusiness Edition. Documentum announced that PKS Information Services, Inc. intends to become a partner in Documentum's ASPire program subject to final agreement between the companies. Documentum announced that ConnectSite.com, a provider of Web-based business-to-business collaboration tools, has joined the Documentum ASPire program. Documentum announced that Informative Graphics Corp. has joined the Documentum ASPire program. Documentum will provide Informative Graphics with marketing and sales support in their efforts to establish Brava!, a Java-based viewing and annotation tool, as a standard enhancement to applications based on Documentum 4i eBusiness Edition that are offered by ASP members of ASPire. Framework Technologies Corporation announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with SupplierMarket.com. The two companies intend to jointly develop an integrated Collaborative Commerce (C-Commerce) solution that will enable product design firms to submit RFQs directly from Framework Technologies ActiveProject software to the SupplierMarket.com online marketplace. ![]() Alventive, Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Company announced a customer-centric strategic alliance to build and deliver Design-to-Order solutions for Business-to-Business (B2B) customers involved in discrete manufacturing. The solutions will be delivered through the Alventive Online Design Community, a portal powered by HP's e-services solutions. Hummingbird Ltd. announced SuSE Inc., the leading European Linux distribution and solutions provider, has signed an agreement to become an authorized Hummingbird reseller. Matra Datavision announced the signature of a final agreement between its North American operation, Matra Datavision Inc. and Genesis Modeling Technologies Inc. an American services company based in Grand Rapids, MI, whereby the companies will join together to bring their customers additional and complementary expertise. Mentor Graphics Corp. announced a co-verification model development agreement with Hitachi, Ltd. to provide cycle-accurate models of Hitachi's SuperH Family of RISC microprocessor cores. Open Text Corporation announced a partnership with XIS Incorporated to extend Livelink's collaborative commerce capabilities with Novare, a new XIS product development e-business application. SDRC announced the selection of Computer Sciences Corporation as the preferred global consultant and systems integrator to assist with transitioning its recently-acquired Sherpa Systems Corporation customers to SDRC's Metaphase PDM software. Spatial Inc. and Materialise announced an alliance to license Materialise's Magics software technology for verification, healing and viewing of stereolithography files on the Internet. The technology will be made available on the Bits2Parts.com (www.bits2parts.com) engineering application service. Spatial Inc. and CAD/CAM Publishing, publisher of the Rapid Prototyping Directory, announced that Spatial's PlanetCAD division will be the exclusive publisher of the World Wide Web version of the Rapid Prototyping Directory. think3 announced a partnership with e-business leaders Silknet Software and ZAMBA Solutions to deliver a richer, more responsive and interactive customer care experience to think3 customers over the Internet. * Other * STEP Tools, Inc. announced the second Industrial Review Board meeting for its Model Driven Intelligent Control of Manufacturing program, otherwise known as the Super Model Project. The meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26, 2000 at STEP Tools' headquarters in Troy, NY. Unigraphics Solutions Inc. announced that the Partners for the Advancement of CAD/CAM/CAE Education (PACE) - an initiative formed by General Motors, UGS, Sun Microsystems and EDS - have contributed software, hardware and services, valued at over $28 million, to Mexico's Instituto Politecnico Nacional and Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Toluca. Unigraphics Solutions Inc. announced the opening of its first VPD (Virtual Product Development) Process Portal in Asia Pacific. Located in Seoul, Korea, the VPD Process Portal is a state-of-the-art technology center equipped with the latest product development software from UGS and workstations from Compaq, Dell, Hewlett Packard and Sun. The VPD Process Portal is established with the objective of helping manufacturing companies launch their new processes and designs with maximum confidence of success. |
